Unmanned Mini Submersible Vehicle

The NASC Mini-Submersible Vehicle is an autonomous underwater platform that can be air-launched or thrown over the side of an RV. Configured with a customizable payload bay, the field-replaceable components allow the vehicle to be used in a variety of operations.

This NASC designed underwater vehicle can be programmed to follow a defined mission-specific track, with multiple depth, heading and speed changes as required to support your operation, or can operate in a random manner. Underwater acoustic signals can be used to command the vehicle to alternative tracks or sensor functions.

With rechargeable batteries, the NASC Mini-Submersible Vehicle is a cost-effective alternative to over the side deployed sensors.

High Accuracy Air Deployment System

The NASC High Accuracy Air Deployment System is a decelerator and associated sensors designed to reduce the positional uncertainty in impact location of air deployed packages. The System optimizes drop zone accuracy by reducing air descent time, while still providing survivable impact speeds.

Using high fidelity computer simulation of the air deployment process, NASC can design a decelerator optimized for your package and impact requirements. If desired, an executable version of this same program can be provided to determine the actual launch point for existing environmental conditions in order to further increase the impact location accuracy.

Acoustic Transducer Technology

Relying on extensive experience developing acoustic systems, NASC is capable of designing and fabricating active and passive acoustic transducers to meet a variety of environmental, packaging and operating conditions. Deep water, low frequency, high power – our transducers can handle it.

With multiple digital simulation tools, NASC can evaluate the effects of ceramic materials and assembly methods on transducer performance. Once a design is finalized, our broad network of suppliers can provide ceramic slugs using the optimal ceramic material in the required size and shape. NASC can then fabricate the elements, and verify their performance in our acoustic calibration equipment. Large assemblies can be tested in one of our open water test facilities.

Ocean System Design, Fabrication and Test

NASC’s engineering staff has decades of experience with Ocean System design, fabrication and testing. We specialize in the rapid prototyping of hardware to meet specialized requirements. Utilizing fully equipped mechanical and electronic shops including 3-D printers and computerized PCB design tools, a custom device can go from paper design to finished hardware in minimal time.

Our design experience extends from shallow to deep water operating depths, acoustic, magnetic and electric field sensors, and short life experimental or long life persistent devices. Our design tools include Computer Aided Drafting, electronic circuit design, and mechanical simulations of ocean deployed systems. With access to several flooded quarries and the open ocean, we can verify the performance of your system before delivery.
